Our Kids is hosting its annual Ballina ‘Day Out’ this Sunday (May 4) – a social day to give back and say thanks to the community.
Taking place at the Missingham Bridge Amphitheatre, the fun begins with a Lions BBQ breakfast at 9am followed by a full program of live entertainment. The main show, ‘Paw Patrol and Friends,’ will take place from 10 am to 12.
Clarence Property is presenting Musical Munchkins with Sheyzo and The Blaze Magic Show, while Cherry Street Sports is presenting Miss Beka and Little Cherry, DJ Chad, and the Wildlife Twins.
Our Kids does vital work to raise funds for purchasing paediatric equipment for local children’s wards and special care nurseries. This equipment helps children living in the Northern Rivers, who require medical care, to get it quickly and locally.

Nick Bordin from McGrath Northern Rivers Group in Lennox Head has seen, first hand, the benefit Our Kids has brought to the region.
“Our Kids plays an important part in our community. To date, they have purchased $2.7 million worth of equipment that helps our kids stay local when needing medical help.
“Being a dad of young kids, this means a lot to me, if they got sick, I would want them to be able to stay local for medical care, I know the equipment Our Kids purchases helps with make this happen, which is why we’re pleased to be able to support this great event,” said Nick, who also serves as a board member of the charity.
Our Kids will be presenting the Suzie Levot Memorial Our Kids Bravery Award to recognise the courage of Willow Roberts. Willow is a young patient who has spent time in the Lismore Base Hospital Children’s Ward as well as a significant amount of time at Queensland Children’s Hospital.
The staff at Lismore Base Hospital Children’s Ward unanimously agreed Willow should be the recipient of the Bravery Award this year.
After suffering with an Osteosarcoma, Willow underwent rotationplasty amputation of her left femur.
Martika, Willow’s mother, spoke of how her daughter has dealt with this event, “Willow has shown incredible strength and resilience when faced with the fight of her life at age seven.
“During Willow’s amputation operation she never let anything get her down. The day after her amputation Willow was on the edge of her bed, scared but brave, doing physiotherapy to get moving.
“She was unstoppable. Willow said “I WILL do everything I did before. It will just take time.”
“Willow truly deserves to be centre stage at the Our Kids Day Out celebration,” said Rebekka Battista, the Coordinator for Our Kids.

“Our Kids has invited the local Emergency Services to participate this year. Expect to see trucks, cars, and boats on display. Children will be able to see and learn about the important services that help keep the community safe and rescue people in need. They will also have the chance to meet some of the dedicated staff who work in the Children’s Ward.
“It will be a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy free entertainment and connect with Emergency Services. So, bring your family, pack a picnic blanket, and enjoy a day full of fun,” Rebekka said.
The Clarence Property Our Kids Day Out is this Sunday, 4 May, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Missingham Bridge Amphitheatre in Ballina.
