Locals Tee Off for Men’s Mental Health at Inaugural Charity Golf Day

Ballina will put community spirit front and centre this November, as local businesses and residents come together for the inaugural International Men’s Day Charity Golf Day, raising awareness and funds for men’s mental health.

The event will be held on Friday, November 21 at the Ballina Golf & Sports Club, and promises a full day of connection, sport, and purpose – with all proceeds going to Human Nature Adventure Therapy, which supports young men in the Northern Rivers through nature-based mental health programs.

The initiative is the brainchild of local business owner Joeline Paskins, of Hartley’s Fresh Market, and her partner Shaun, who wanted to create something meaningful for the community.

“This started as a small idea around our kitchen bench, and it’s grown into something we’re incredibly proud of,” Joeline said.

“We’re working closely with the teams at Ballina RSL Club and the Ballina Golf Club to make this something really special. Without their support, it wouldn’t be happening.”

What’s On: Golf, Guest Speakers, and Giving Back

The charity event will feature an 18-hole Ambrose tournament, a Mazda Ute hole-in-one competition, guest speakers, a charity raffle and silent auction, along with BBQ breakfast, buffet lunch, and a relaxed networking environment.

But it’s more than a fun day on the green — it’s about raising awareness of the importance of men’s mental health, particularly in regional communities.

“There’s so much stigma still around men asking for help,” Joeline said.

“We hope this event helps start some of those important conversations.”

Call-Out to Local Businesses

Organisers are encouraging local businesses to get involved by donating prizes, vouchers, or experiences for the raffle or auction.

“If you’ve got time, skills, or something to offer — we’d love to hear from you,” Joeline said.

“It’s a grassroots event with a big heart — and Ballina businesses always show up when it counts.”

Sponsorship packages and branding opportunities are also available for businesses that want to support the cause and raise their profile.
