Ballina Emergency Services Expo: Learn, Connect and Be Prepared

by | Sep 11, 2025 | News | 0 comments

Ballina Shire residents will have the chance to sharpen their emergency readiness when Missingham Park hosts the Ballina Emergency Services Expo on Saturday, September 20.

The whole family is welcome and it’s a chance to see emergency service vehicles close up, meet the crews and check out some of the latest equipment being used.

Just in time for the summer storm season, the free event is designed to help prepare for floods, fires and other natural disasters, while giving people the opportunity to connect with frontline agencies.

Ballina Shire Council’s Local Emergency Management Officer Lloyd Isaacson said the day was about building resilience in a practical, enjoyable way.

“Whether it’s fire, flood, storm or other natural events, it’s never too early to be prepared,” Mr Isaacson said.

“This expo will be a fun day out for all ages and will give our community a chance to meet and learn directly from the people who protect us during crises.”

He added that preparation is key to reducing risk.

“We can’t control when emergencies will happen, but we can control how prepared we are.

“Taking a few simple steps now can make a big difference in keeping yourself, your family and your community safe.”

Meet the Responders

Attendees will be able to meet and chat with representatives from:

  • NSW Police
  • NSW Ambulance
  • Fire and Rescue NSW
  • NSW State Emergency Service (SES)
  • NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS)
  • Marine Rescue
  • Red Cross
  • Surf Life Saving

Hands-On Displays and Demos

The expo will feature live demonstrations, interactive displays and practical advice tailored to the Northern Rivers’ unique risks.

Kids will be able to climb aboard fire trucks and explore emergency vehicles, while adults can learn how to:

  • Prepare a household emergency plan
  • Stay informed through alerts and apps
  • Access critical support during disasters

There will also be opportunities to ask questions, receive personalised advice, and connect directly with the agencies leading disaster response and recovery across the region.
