Police Arrest Wollongbar Man After Byron Bay Attack on Teen

A 24-year-old Wollongbar man has been arrested and charged over an alleged assault in Byron Bay last month.

Police allege an 18-year-old man was attacked on Jonson Street about 3.30am on Saturday, August 23.

The victim was approached by another man before being allegedly assaulted, after which the offender fled the scene.

Following an investigation by Tweed/Byron Police District, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Opaki Place, Wollongbar, around 9am yesterday.

The 24-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Lismore Police Station.

He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and granted conditional bail to appear before Byron Bay Local Court on Monday, October 13.
