The Headliners Chorus has returned home with one of its best-ever competition results after placing second in its division at the Sweet Adelines International Convention in Hobart.
Under the direction of Cathy Gordon, the Ballina-based chorus competed against groups from across Australia, improving its previous highest convention score by 45 points.
While competition is an important part of the group’s activities, members say some of their most rewarding performances are those within the local community.
Earlier this month, the chorus performed at the memorial service honouring the two Ballina Marine Rescue volunteers who lost their lives during a rescue operation in difficult conditions in May.
The Headliners Chorus rehearses every Monday from 7pm at the Ballina RSL Club auditorium and is inviting new members to join.
Women interested in singing with the chorus are encouraged to attend on the first Monday of each month to meet members and experience a rehearsal.
