Community groups invited to give flood buyback homes and pods a second life

Expressions of interest are now open for eligible community organisations to put buyback homes and temporary pods to good use in their communities.
The NSW Reconstruction Authority in conjunction with Homes NSW, have launched the Homes Reuse Program.
Through the program, safe and suitable buyback homes and temporary pods can be relocated and repurposed to support such things as social and affordable housing; crisis accommodation; key worker housing and community spaces that respond to local needs
There are two pod villages still in operation in Ballina Shire.
The program aims to help communities across the Northern Rivers make the most of these valuable assets, delivering lasting local benefits where they’re needed most.
If your organisation is looking for innovative ways to support housing and community outcomes, this is an opportunity to turn existing infrastructure into future community assets.
Applications close on Thursday, September 17.
