A new CCTV network designed to improve community safety has been officially launched in Coraki.

Richmond Valley Council General Manager Robert Mustow, members of Council’s IT team, Clarence MP Richie Williamson and members of the Coraki community attended the launch of the new surveillance system.

The $135,000 project was jointly funded through a $94,500 NSW Government grant under the Towns and Villages Resilient Business Activation Program, with Richmond Valley Council contributing $40,500.

The network includes five 360-degree quad cameras positioned throughout the Coraki CBD and four automated number plate recognition cameras at key entry points into the town.

A dedicated monitoring terminal has also been installed at Coraki Police Station, giving NSW Police direct access to live and recorded footage to assist with policing and investigations.

Council says the project will help improve public safety while supporting police in preventing and investigating crime.
