A 51-year-old woman has been arrested after an 81-year-old man was found dead in a creek on a property at Teven.

Police were called to a home on Teven Road at about 12.10pm yesterday following concerns for the welfare of a resident.

Officers searched the property and discovered the body of a man in a creek.

While formal identification was yet to take place, police said the man was believed to be the 81-year-old resident of the home.

A 51-year-old woman was arrested at the property and taken to Lismore Police Station, where she was being interviewed as police continued their inquiries.

Police have not said what relationship, if any, existed between the woman and the dead man, and no charges had been announced when the statement was issued late Thursday afternoon.

A crime scene was established at the Teven property and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
