Who’s the Best Employee on the Plateau? Entries About to Close for Business Awards

With less than a week to go until entries close for the Alstonville-Wollongbar Chamber of Commerce’s Plateau Business Awards, the countdown is on to celebrate the people and businesses that help make our region thrive — including the search for the most outstanding employee on the Plateau.

Chamber president Jemma Coulter says while nominations have been steadily coming in, several key categories are still looking for standout entries.

“This is your opportunity to nominate someone who really makes a difference,” Jemma said.
“It could be someone you see every day doing a great job in a local business, or a colleague who goes above and beyond behind the scenes. Even if they’ve been recognised internally, this is a chance to celebrate them publicly.”

Entries close Wednesday, June 12, and they’re open to all businesses and individuals across Alstonville, Wollongbar, and the surrounding areas. You don’t have to be a Chamber member to enter, and all nominations are assessed by independent judges with experience in regional business awards — giving winners genuine credibility and recognition.

Categories still calling for entries include:

  • Best Business on the Plateau
  • Most Outstanding Employee
  • Best Agricultural or Primary Industry Business
  • Best Apprentice on the Plateau

“We’re especially keen to see more entries from our amazing local agricultural sector — some of the best in the region, including those businesses that support primary industries” Jemma said.

“And there are so many young apprentices who deserve their moment in the spotlight. This could give them a real boost as they build their careers.”

Jemma knows first-hand the impact of being recognised — she was previously named Young Business Leader of the Year, and said the experience was rewarding and motivating.

After a long hiatus, this year’s Plateau Business Awards Gala is set to be a spectacular return — taking place at Summerland Farm on Saturday, July 26.

Whether you’re a startup, a long-standing enterprise, or an individual doing great work in your field, now’s the time to throw your hat in the ring.

The Chamber will be promoting the awards heavily throughout the final week. This week, they also celebrated local businesses at The Palms Shopping Centre in Wollongbar, helping spread the word and encourage even more locals to get involved.
