FOUND! Missing elderly Ballina woman found ‘safe and well’

An elderly woman missing from the Ballina area has been located safe and well, bringing relief to family, police and the wider community.

Judith Skimming had been missing for two days, sparking grave concerns for her welfare as temperatures climbed towards 33 degrees today.

Police have thanked members of the public and the media for their assistance after a strong community response helped locate her.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an elderly woman reported missing from the Ballina area.

Judith Skimming, aged 83, was last seen on Brampton Avenue, West Ballina, about 1.00am on Tuesday.

When she could not be contacted or located, officers attached to Richmond Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Family and police hold serious concerns for Judith’s welfare as she lives with dementia and requires regular care.

An urgent geo-targeted SMS alert was issued to Ballina and surrounding areas just after 8.30am this morning.

Police have confirmed the text message, sent from +61 444 444 444, is genuine and not a scam.

Judith is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a slim build and grey hair.

She was last seen wearing grey trackpants and a pink top.

Judith is also believed to be carrying a black Chihuahua dog.

Police believe she may be travelling on foot around the Ballina area.
