
Bruxner Highway shut after police car and RFS truck collide
Three police officers have been taken to hospital after a crash involving a marked police vehicle and a Rural Fire Service truck on the Bruxner Highway west of Ballina.
Emergency services were called to the highway near Lindendale about 4pm this afternoon following reports of a collision.
The crash occurred between Cowlong Road and McLeans Ridges Road.
Police say the marked police vehicle was travelling on urgent duty with lights and sirens activated when the crash occurred.
Officers from Lismore Police District were told a third vehicle, driven by an off-duty police officer, was also involved in the incident.
Three police officers were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries before being taken to hospital for further assessment.
The occupants of the Rural Fire Service truck were not injured.
The crash forced the closure of the Bruxner Highway near Lindendale while emergency services responded.
Traffic was being diverted along McLeans Ridges Road as crews worked at the scene.
Officers from Richmond Police District have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage from the area to contact Richmond Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
