Jali elders off to UN Forum in New York

Representatives from the Jali Aboriginal Land Council will travel to New York to address a United Nations forum.

Chairperson Kylie Jacky told the ABC the delegation will highlight issues affecting the Nyangbul people in the Ballina area.

These include the displacement of Cabbage Tree Island residents following the 2022 floods.

Ms Jacky also raised concerns about proposed changes to the Crown Lands Act, warning they could weaken Aboriginal land rights.

The Byron Bay Echo reports a delegation of eight will attend the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
