A Northern Rivers woman has been charged after a long running investigation into alleged hoax bomb threats sent to schools across NSW.

The investigation began in March 2025, after a hoax bomb threat was allegedly sent to a school in Murwillumbah.

Detectives later linked the matter to another thirteen alleged hoax threats sent to NSW schools between March 2025 and May 2026, bringing the total number of school threats under investigation to fourteen.

The case also widened to include two alleged hoax bomb threats sent to airports in NSW and Queensland, which investigators believe were connected to the school threats.

Multi-Agency Investigation

The investigation involved Tweed-Byron detectives, State Crime Command’s Cybercrime Squad, the NSW Department of Education and the Australian Federal Police.

Amy Lee Darby-Holden, 23, was arrested after investigators executed a search warrant at a home on Hall Drive, Murwillumbah, on Friday.

Several electronic devices were allegedly seized during the search.

Investigators believe the devices were used in connection with the offences.

Ms Darby-Holden was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station following the search.

She was charged with fourteen counts of using a carriage service to make a hoax threat, using a carriage service to threaten serious harm, and possessing an unregistered firearm, not being a pistol or prohibited firearm.

Bail was refused and she will appear before Bail Division Court Saturday.
