Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate an elderly man living with dementia, who has gone missing from The Pocket.

Stuart Elliott, 82, was last seen at a property on The Pocket Road about 1.30pm on Sunday.

After he could not be located, officers from Tweed/Byron Police District began inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police and Stuart’s family are concerned for his welfare due to his medical condition.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with white hair and glasses. He was last seen wearing black tracksuit pants, a black T-shirt with a blue overshirt, a grey vest and brown Ugg-style boots.

NSW Police are also issuing an SMS geo-targeting alert to people in the The Pocket area. Messages sent from +61 444 444 444 are legitimate and are not a scam.
