Firefighters have extinguished a truck fire on the M1 Pacific Highway at Tyagarah after multiple Triple Zero calls reported the blaze on Thursday night.

Emergency services were called just after 8.30pm on Thursday (July 30) to reports of a truck on fire in the southbound lanes of the highway, about 15 kilometres north of Byron Bay.

Fire and Rescue NSW responded with four fire trucks and a Duty Commander, working alongside the NSW Rural Fire Service to contain and extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters also deployed a Remote Pilot Aircraft System (RPAS), commonly known as a drone, to assist crews by providing an aerial view of the incident.

There were no immediate reports of injuries. The cause of the fire has not been released.
