A woman who provided domestic care services to an elderly couple has been charged after police allegedly uncovered jewellery and other property during searches of two homes.

The investigation unfolded in the Tweed Heads area, where police executed search warrants and allegedly seized a large quantity of jewellery, 31 unopened bottles of perfume, nine handbags and electronics.

Police say the first search warrant was executed at the home of a woman who had provided domestic care services to an elderly man and woman.

During the search, officers allegedly located and seized several items of interest, including the jewellery, perfume, handbags and electronic items.

Among the property was a gold chain and pendant which police say matched the description of items reported stolen from the elderly woman.

Police executed a second search warrant at a Tweed Heads South home about 8.30am yesterday, Thursday, August 13.

During that search, officers allegedly located and seized further property believed to have been unlawfully obtained, including electronics, appliances and furniture.

A 57-year-old woman was arrested at Tweed Heads Police Station about 3pm.

She was charged with four offences, including two counts relating to allegedly receiving stolen property worth more than $5000, dishonestly obtaining property by deception and dealing with alleged proceeds of crime worth more than $100,000.

The woman was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear in court on September 28.

Police are continuing to examine several pieces of jewellery seized during the searches.
