The family of an 81-year-old man allegedly murdered at Teven has given police permission to publicly identify him as Sam Singh.

Police released Mr Singh’s name and photograph late Saturday, two days after his body was found in a creek at a Teven Road property.

His family has requested privacy.

Police were called to the property about 12.10pm on Thursday following concerns for Mr Singh’s welfare.

Officers searched the property and found his body in Maguire’s Creek, which runs beside the property.

A 51-year-old Ballina woman, Elizabeth Simone Fell, was arrested at the scene and taken to Lismore Police Station.

She was later taken to Lismore Base Hospital for assessment before being returned to police custody on Friday morning.

Fell was subsequently charged with murder.

Police later clarified the charge is classified as murder (domestic violence).

Police allege Fell and Mr Singh were known to each other but have not disclosed the nature of their relationship.

The Teven Road property became the focus of an extensive police investigation, with forensic officers examining the home and surrounding area.

Fell appeared briefly before court by video link on Saturday. She did not apply for bail and remains in custody, with the matter due back before court in Lismore on October 28.

Police have not disclosed how Mr Singh died or further details of the allegations against Fell.
