Ballina man located on warrant linked to KFC brawl
A Ballina man previously named in a NSW Police warrant notice has been located and remains in custody, with bail refused as multiple matters proceed before the courts.
Kane Ollis, 24, had been the subject of a police appeal circulated across the Northern Rivers before he was arrested.
The matters before the court include allegations of larceny, taking and driving a conveyance without the owner’s consent, police pursuit for allegedly failing to stop and driving recklessly (first offence), driving while disqualified (first offence), contravening a prohibition or restriction in a domestic violence order, and larceny involving property valued between $2,000 and $5,000.
Ollis previously appeared before Ballina Local Court on July 14, 2022, over incidents linked to a brawl at the Ballina KFC fast food outlet and a service station.
He was convicted of affray, high-range PCA (first offence), and assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty without actual bodily harm.
The court imposed a 12-month intensive correction order, two-year community correction orders, 100 hours of community service, a mandatory interlock order, a six-month licence disqualification, a 24-month interlock period, supervision by Community Corrections, attendance at the SMART program as directed, and conditions requiring abstinence from alcohol.
Ollis is due to reappear in court on April 9.
As the matter is before the court, the allegations have not been tested.
